ALUMNI NEWS: PAT GUZIK WITH HARVEY NICHOLS, AND GLOBAL TALK

Pat Guzik collaborates with Harvey Nichols Hong Kong

"Everything started from the Redress Design Award," shares 2015 winner Pat Guzik, one of our many competition alumni who have gone on to further develop their careers in sustainable fashion design with the support of our network.

The Polish designer's latest sustainable fashion collection is currently retailing at Harvey Nichols Hong Kong in a collaboration with her partner, visual artist Mateusz Kolek and creative studio Ztoryteller. Their series, "I wonder where it all began", celebrates love and affection, including the couple's love for the nostalgic vibe of Hong Kong movies.

Pat spent six months in Hong Kong following her Redress Design Award win designing an upcycled capsule for Shanghai Tang, where her love of the city grew. Her bold and bright collection features shirts, pleated skirts, one-piece dresses, silk scarves, socks, and other accessories, which were all produced locally in her homeland of Poland. It was designed, constructed, and produced in cooperation with local producers, small sewing factories, and dressmakers. Her garments use GOTS-certified cotton, zero-waste patterns, and her pleated skirts use end-of-roll textiles.

The month-long pop-up launched with an intimate gathering of media and VIP guests at Harvey Nichols in Pacific Place, Admiralty, Hong Kong on 7 February. From 22 February to 7 March, the pop-up will be showing at Harvey Nichols in LANDMARK, Central, Hong Kong.

Global Talk: Circular Fashion Design Strategies with Redress Design Award 2022 Winner and Industry Expert

To share knowledge of circular fashion design strategies, particularly to potential applicants of the Redress Design Award, we recently hosted a live online talk open to all across the globe.

Redress’ Sustainable Fashion Education Director, Marianne Mclean-Atkins, delved into circular design strategies and why they are important for designers, while the Redress Design Award 2022 First Prize winner, Federico Badini Confalonieri, shared about his competition experience, including the inspiration behind his collection, and his ongoing prize collaboration with VF’s Timberland.

The global talk was filled with personal and expert insights on the challenges and opportunities of circular fashion design and the Redress Design Award competition. Participants also had the chance to ask their own questions live during the Q&A segments.

The Redress Design Award is open for applications now until 16 March 2023. Share the news with a talented designer you know who is keen to cut waste out of fashion!
