Alumni use Tencel™ Regenerative Fibre Technology and Meet Industry Experts

To empower our Redress Design Award alumni (previous competition finalists, semi-finalists and Rising Talents) in their ongoing careers making much-needed change in the industry, Redress provides ongoing opportunities and support.

This September at our annual runway show, we showcased two of our Hong Kong alumni, Eric Wong of Absurd Laboratory and Louise Lau of PSY LAU, who we had matched up with our partner Lenzing to sponsor fabrics for their latest brand collections. Both designers utilised the fabrics, which are converted from Tencel™ fibres with REFIBRA™ technology. The regenerative technology upcycles scrap cotton from post-production and pre-loved clothes, and combines them with sustainable Tencel™ wood pulp to create new textiles out of waste.

Tencel also provided a masterclass on fibres to our latest group of finalists during the Grand Final Week.

CONNECTIONS FOR SUCCESS

We hosted a virtual alumni networking event on 20 September 2022, bringing together over 30 of our international alumni and connecting them with our community of expert industry professionals, including manufacturers, suppliers, digital design, and marketing experts.

Through the interactive online event, the impact of the knowledge exchange extended across the globe while also bringing increased exposure to the industry in Hong Kong. Alumni and industry professionals forged new connections and strengthened ties with one another.

Our Redress Design Award Alumni represent a wide range of talents and skills, from brand owners to consultants, educators, and more developing sustainable solutions for the industry.
