Redress Design Award 2024 celebrates opening with exclusive fashion sponsor, Tommy Hilfiger

The Redress Design Award 2024 celebrated the opening of the 2024 competition cycle with our new strategic partners and Exclusive Fashion Sponsor, Tommy Hilfiger, at a launch event on 23 January at Soho House, Hong Kong.

The event gathered key industry leaders for a timely panel discussion on ‘Circularity - Why Asia and Why Now?’ to spotlight the urgent need to transition towards circular fashion. Celebrities, including Cantopop boy group P1X3L, supermodel and environmentalist Bonnie Chen, actor Carlos Chan, Hong Kong men's foil fencer Shawn Cheung Siu Lun, and other leading fashion influencers celebrated with various sustainable fashion themed activities.

“Fashion needs to change,” shared Dean. “Everyone from C-suites to citizens have a role to play, especially in Asia where making fashion circular is an urgent priority and opportunity. The opening of the Redress Design Award 2024 cycle with Tommy Hilfger further demonstrates that circularity must be firmly part of fashion’s future.”

Joining the industry panel discussion was Maximilian Berleb, Senior Vice President, Operations for Tommy Hilfiger Asia Pacific, who remarked, “Circularity is one of the key pillars of our Tommy For Tomorrow sustainability vision. Internally, we have a circular design framework for our designers which continues to evolve as we engage with industry leaders in circularity. Through our partnership with the Redress Design Award, we continue to support design talent in the region and to bring circular design into the mainstream.”

The First Prize winner will have the opportunity to join the Tommy Hilfiger team in Hong Kong to work on a sustainable design project for retail. As our Exclusive Fashion Sponsor, Tommy Hilfiger supports Redress’ vision of a waste-free future for fashion. Under their guidance, the winner will deepen their skills and understanding of sustainable production and marketing, and receive mentorship sessions to support their ongoing career.

Redress, together with Lead Sponsor, Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and Exclusive Fashion Sponsor, Tommy Hilfiger, invites emerging sustainable designers with fewer than four years of experience in the fashion industry to compete for career-changing prizes. Applications for the Redress Design Award 2024 are open now until 15 March.
