2023 Rising Talents gain sustainability insights, prizes, and more

The Redress Design Award’s Rising Talents programme offers an exclusive sustainability enrichment experience to a selection of Redress Design Award applicants demonstrating exceptional potential.

This year marked the second installation of this exciting new programme, and included five Rising Talents: Tiger Chung Tsz Ho, Hong Kong; Hugo Dumas, France; Ian Chang, UK; Pachari Santichadsak, Thailand; and Yu Wing Shan, Hong Kong.

Each Rising Talent was paired with an Alumni mentor and received an in-depth tailored mentorship with one or more industry experts. The 11-week programme culminated in a pitching competition, with the designers vying for a final prize by showcasing their newfound knowledge with collection concepts developed from their original Redress Design Award applications.

Congratulations to Hugo Dumas, who demonstrated the greatest improvement in sustainability knowledge through the programme! For his efforts, he will be awarded an overlock sewing machine from JUKI.

To support our homegrown talent, the Hong Kong Rising Talent who showed the greatest improvement on their sustainability knowledge, Ian Chang, will receive a 3-month (within

next 12 months) pass to the Fabrica Lab by The Mills Fabrica, with training included.

All participants also receive a selection of digital fashion books from Bloomsbury Publishing to continue building their expertise in sustainable design.

Upon completing the programme, the Rising Talents join the Redress Design Award Alumni Network, which provides regular opportunities for developing their careers in sustainable fashion. They will also remain eligible to apply to future cycles of the competition.
